I have this Galaxy 1.9 TDi manual gearbox which has no reverse gear all five forward gears work fine. I assume if cables were faulty it would effect more than just reverse gear? Bolted on top of the gearbox is a selector housing which the cables attach to; this assembly connects to the internal selector rods which operate thee gear positions.
My question is does anyone have knowledge of this external component being the cause or is it always the whole gearbox in need of replacement? The cables seem to be working & when you try to assist it further by levering the external fulcrum rod on the top of gearbox towards reverse position, it doesn't want to go any further than the position of first gear?
