I have a 2009 X5 4.8L N62 motor that came in with vanos codes. I found the bank one vanos motor dead. I replaced it and learned its position. It ran fine but now it threw code pointing to eccentric cam sensor or spring missing on valvetronic. I replaced the sensor and everything seemed fine. We needed to replace bank 2 valve cover because of a leak. After it was done the mechanic who replaced it just started it without learning the valvetronic position. They said it ran bad and misfired. When i got back i pulled the motor out of bank 2 cover and put it back in and learned its position. It ran fine but now had code pointing to the sensor again on bank 1 and code 2A83 (Its the only code i remember since it keeps coming back ) I reset the adaptions and only code 2A83 keeps coming back. Could running the motor without learning the motor position cause the chain to jump? Could the chain been off all the time? Could it be a software error. seen a code for that when first scanning the car. Could debris from bank 2 find its way into the intake vanos making it stick. I googled the code and see many have been having this problem with no luck fixing it. Any help would be great.
