For members that want to experiment and try Linux systems within a Virtual Machine, do all your reading here:
https://www.osboxes.org/vmware-images/
The sky is the limit, my choice is: https://www.osboxes.org/linux-mint/
This was built inside a W7 Ultimate machine and VW Workstation Pro 12
The experiment is to capture CAN data into packets and return the packets back into the controller and "play as a loop".
Added is a "how to" from that site but added a few words/image to clearly describe the installation.
Don't forget to "bridge" the network and have either a LAN or WiFi working.
At this end of Linux, the PEAK CAN software was added for Linux system but any CAN hardware/software can be added to capture CAN packets.
