2004 Passat 2.5 TDi.

This was towed in as a non starter, car was perfect one day. Switched off, next day we have a non start. Now I have it at my workshop.
I just had a very quick look earlier and checked power supplies, OK.
Earth, not good, so fitted extra temporary earth and 1 fault code remains and still no start.
Might be wrong, but is there a known issue with these pumps inside and can be repaired when the top is removed?
Friday or Saturday i will access ECU to check 4 wires from the pump. But I reckon there is an earth issue that has caused the pump failure.
