Why?
I needed a safe browser that protects all my systems either personal or for work.
This is a great open source alternative, simple and effective.
This browser is based on Chromium technology and can adjust one file that is included.
“adblock.ini” is a file that can be adjusted at any time to BLOCK incoming pop-ups and other related garbage.
FanBoy created this file years ago and doesn’t support it any longer.
I just added many more lines and links.
Sure you can get your own pop-up blocker but I wanted more control.
If you get an unwanted pop-up or redirection, get the URL and add it into “adblock.ini”.
Save the file and restart the browser.
If you have a Windows machine, the HOST file can also be added to but it’s slightly different in the way it is added. All files can be edited with Notepad.
An example for Iron Browser:
????://bonbonme.com/js/rightbanner.js
Is added to adblock.ini but in the HOST file, this example for Windows:
127.0.0.1 bonbonme.com
The host file location is:
C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc
Copy to the desktop first, edit and copy it back.
That and many other pop-ups, redirections and garbage are now stopped.
Keep a current copy of “adblock.ini” and transfer to all your machines.
Now you have control.
