Honda Civic 2008 2.2 CDTi Used ECU Adapting

Hi! My work mate has Honda Civic 2008 2.2 CDTi and has fault with ECU P0601 and needs to replace it. I have HDS but i am not sure how to adapt this used ECU and never done one on Honda. Can somebody give me procedure to adapt this used ECU and will I need code too?
