Hi Guys.
Prepare for some stupid questions from a "Newbie".
Recently got some tools for cloning ECU's. Just reading up and preparing for my first use. Would the someone with some experience be able to clear up a few points.
The first vehicle I'm looking to "have a play with" is an old 2002 Mercedes C220 CDi with a Bosch control unit. (EDC 16 I think).
I thought I'd pick some older stuff with cheap to replace ECU's to start, just in case I eject some smoke!
I'm planning on using FGTech Galletto for this.
I may have misunderstood, but I thought that only the calibration files etc could be extracted via OBD and to do a full copy (clone) including security, coding etc was a BDM or bench job.
The only info I can find in the instructions says "Flash" for the C220 CDi. I assume Flash means its an OBD read? I can not find any BDM pin outs or pad locations etc.
So, am I mistaken and a full copy can be done via the diagnostic socket on these? Or am I correct and it does need to be done via BDM-Bench and I need to find the pin out and pad locations somewhere?
Many thanks guys.
Steve.
