BMW E46 325i Camshaft Sensor Fault

Hello Guys

I am working on this E46 325i with M54 engine . It has a camshaft ehaust sensor fault . I have scoped the sensor and it seems OK. What is the next step? If I erase the fault it comes up again. Car has symtoms of a slight rough idle whicj\h hunts occasionally
